Objective: To practice replacing formal verbs with phrasal verbs in sentences to make them more informal and conversational.

Task 1: Make these sentences less formal. Replace the underlined verbs with phrasal verbs. You should use the words from the table.


1.The management will only admit people who have tickets.

3.The sun illuminated the sky.

  1. Task 1 looks correct, only a grading scale should be added. Task 2 maybe difficult. Have you shown examples in formal and colloquial registers for the students to grasp. Then they will br able to cope with the task.
