Mastering Listening Skills: “Mind Your Bites” by Kate Poltavets (Student’s Work)
Hello language enthusiasts! This time, we're diving into the topic of " Top 5 Tips for Flawless Dining." 🍽️ Why, you ask? Even though our world has changed a lot, having good table manners still matters. It's not just about strict rules; it's more about creating positive connections, forming good relationships, and managing different social situations smoothly.
Teaching listening skills in English
typically involves three stages to enhance comprehension and communication
abilities.
💬 1.Pre-listening:
Objective: Set the purpose for listening.
Students engage in discussions addressing
questions related to their views on table manners and their awareness of proper
table etiquette.
👂
2.While-listening:
Objective: Develop active listening
skills.
The stage consists of two exercises. The
first aims to assess overall understanding of the video, while the second focuses
on listening for specific details. There is a QR code that students can scan to
actively engage in the interactive completion of the exercise.

🗣️ 3.Post-listening:
Objective: Reinforce comprehension and
integrate learned content.
This stage has also got two activities.
The initial provides an opportunity for students to express their views on the
topic discussing questions. Encourage them to use phrases in the box from the
video. It would be better if you pre-teach them beforehand. Further they are to
work in pairs and read the list of bad table manners and discuss why they aren’t
good at a table.
So, armed with these top-notch tips, go
ahead and rock your dining experiences with flawless finesse! How do you inspire your students to become active
listeners? Share your insights below or drop a comment. 📝
