TEACHING ENGLISH WITH TECHNOLOGY: by Marharyta Kniazieva (student's work)

TEACHING ENGLISH WITH TECHNOLOGY

In the modern world, teaching becomes more and more connected with online resources. Covid shows us the need to  keep up with the times, the need to be smart, modern and proficient in Internet usage. Online studying gives us a chance to get known with new sources of making our lessons interactive, interesting and productive . I offer you a list of my favorite technologies for teaching English.

Online Dictionaries

Teaching English is closely connected with words and the best way to check spelling, meaning and pronunciation is to consult a reliable dictionary. I recommend you to use Cambridge Online Dictionary and Collins English Dictionary.

Cambridge Online Dictionary

This dictionary provides UK and US pronunciation, meaning, level of the word usage, part of the language, examples and synonyms. It also presents word combinations and idioms connected with the word.

Collins English Dictionary

Except meanings and pronunciation features combined with a video example, this dictionary gives word frequency and word origin. Examples, synonyms, word combinations and idioms are also included.

Presentations

PowerPoint Presentations are an integral part of a lesson. They help teachers to maintain students’ attention, demonstrate examples, statistics and data. But each of us knows how time consuming it may be  to create an aesthetic and at the same time interactive presentation. For this purpose I recommend platforms such as Canva and Kahoot!

This platform is a real gold mine of information and resources for teachers. Here you may find: documents, electronic boards for various purposes, presentations, templates of social media posts and videos, web pages and sites, graphics, calendars and mind maps.
